What is the difference between classical homeopathy, modern homeopathy and complex homeopathy?
Classical, or constitutional homeopathy is homeopathy the way it was originally created by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann. Hahnemann was in favor of only using one homeopathic remedy at a time in order to clearly understand the effect of that remedy on the organism.
Constitutional homeopathy is homeopathy directed at the constitution, or rather, the symptom picture of the entire individual rather than at a disease. This is the preferred way to treat chronic conditions. In fact, the condition is never directly treated, but the individual is. As the symptom picture changes, which it invariably will in chronic conditions, the homeopathic remedy is changed in accordance. There is no such thing as one constitutional remedy for a person, the remedy is always given for the symptom picture which is present at the moment.
This is completely the opposite of conventional medicine in which the disease is treated but the individual almost completely ignored. In constitutional homeopathy one remedy at a time is given as described above.
The terms 'modern homeopathy' and 'complex homeopathy' refer mostly to the administration of mixtures of homeopathic remedies. Most health food stores and pharmacies sell homeopathic complexes for conditions like colds and flus, allergies, insomnia etc and they are often useful and helpful in acute conditions. In chronic conditions they are not nearly as useful, since, once again, the emphasis needs to be on the individual rather than on the condition.
