Warts and all
A case of recurring warts and developmental delay in a child
This had to be the worst case of warts I had ever seen. There were hundreds of them, almost completely obscuring this young girl's ankels. No, I didn't know either that warts could grow on the ankles, but here they did. Warts on top of warts, next to warts and instead of warts. Resistant warts.
Riley's parents had tried everything to kill them, to no avail. They just came back time and time again. As usual, alternative medicine, and in this case homeopathy, had become the last resort.
Alas, even in homeopathy there are no wonder drugs for warts.
I observed the child carefully. Riley seemed to be a bit 'young' for her age, she was 12 but appeared to be much younger in the way in which she looked and interacted. I would have guessed that she was only eight years old. She also seemed to be a bit slow to understand things as well as quite shy. Her parents reported that Riley preferred to play with younger children.
She had been late in developing some milestones such as walking, which she only started at 15 months old. This child had not been officially diagnosed as being developmentally delayed in any way, but at least emotionally she seemed to be lagging behind.
I prescribed Baryta-carbonica, a homeopathic remedy made from barium carbonite, based on her apparent developmental delay and obviously weakened immune system. Bayta-carb is often indicated in patients with developmental delays, including mental retardation or just an emotional immaturity. However, there are many other remedies for developmental delays and each case needs to be addressed individually.
Riley received a single dose of the remedy in the 200CH potency.
A month later the family returned and the warts on the girl's ankles had improved by about 75%! Not only that, but the parents reported that Riley was brighter overall and that her teacher had commented on her improved ability to concentrate. I asked the family to return again in one month. At that time the warts were completely gone.
I asked the parents to bring her back if the warts recurred or if her mental state relapsed. Three months later the parents came back without the girl to ask for another dose of the remedy as Riley's attention was suffering again. The warts did never came back.
