Salty Baby
Homeopathy for Infertility
Marianne consulted me in the fall of 1997 regarding her inability to conceive a child. She had been married for three years and, although not using birth control, had never conceived. All the regular test for both partners had come back normal. I proceeded to ask her all the usual questions we like to ask in homeopathy, including details about her life and personality. She was visibly uncomfortable with my inquiry and practically squirming in her chair. It was very difficult to obtain any kind of personal information from her. I was almost as uncomfortable as she was.
The same thing happend during the second consultation a week later. It was next to impossible to get anywhere with this patient. However, in homeopathy, that in itself is a clue. I really had nothing much to prescribe on other than that the patient was simply very closed. I gave her a dose of Natrum-muriaticum, a homeopathic remedy made from sodium chloride, table salt. Patients requiring this remedy often are very private and closed by nature and therefor tend to hold emotions inside, especially grief. This can then lead to all sorts of ailments down the line. Natrum-mur patients may be the ones who never get over the loss of a spouse, a parent, a pet or another grief. They are sensitive and idealistic in a healthier state but can become quite cold and even malicious and filled with thoughts of revenge in a pathological state.
Anyway, Marianne did not return for a follow-up and I thought that surely I had prodded her too much, maybe offended her in some way. It played on my mind for a long time as she had seemed so outstandingly uncomfortable in the interviews.
Two or three years passed and one day I saw her name on my day sheet. I recognized it immediately. She came into my office and said: "Well, Dr. Zimmermann, I must admit I was sceptical about the remedy you gave me, but I conceived within a month and had a beautiful, healthy baby girl. Now we have been trying to have another child wihout much luck so I came back to get some more of that remedy you gave me."
I didn't hear from her again after this, so I assume the salty remedy did the job once more. Of course, for a closed person, she would not have told me that the treatment had been successful and after this time I did not take it personally any more when someone didn't return for follow-ups, knowing that they might have just gotten what they had come for in the first place!
